So it’s been a week since I last wrote. Oops. We’ve been a busy crew it feels, though, when I think back there really isn’t anything too extraordinary.
We took a trip down to see my family & my grandmother who is now back for the summer. She’s one of them there Snow Birds, if you will. We had the luck of getting to spend the day with my nephew. He is about the CUTEST thing you ever saw!
We ate more than our fill of jellybeans, good food, and Mt. Dew. We burned a little of it off giving Noah rides:
Other than that, we’ve been trying to make the most of the beautiful weather we are having. For those of you that don’t live in this God forsaken state, we have two seasons- Winter (which lasts about 9 mo of the year) and Humidity (the other 3 months). I joke. We have had a nice, but rainy spring and everything is looking green and lush. The mosquitos are now out in full force and the humidity is starting to rise some days, however, we have been blessed to have only a few of these so far. Pretty soon it will be hot and humid 24 hrs per day. One more reason to LOVE living in this state incase the bug bites and frostbite aren’t enough is MOREL MUSHROOMS!! Tis the season.
This is actually the first year I’ve been lucky enough to try these. I was immediately smitten. I was gifted this amazing bag full from my MIL & FIL. This week’s recipes: Morel & sweet pepper omelets; angel hair pasta with creamy tomato sauce, sun dried tomatoes, kalamata olives and morels; Cajun style pork burgers with cheese, caramelized onions and morels. The caramelized onions & mushrooms was AMAZING!!!!! I really can’t tell you how good it was. I didn’t want to brush my teeth as I was afraid the taste would disappear and I wanted to cradle it in my mouth as long as possible. It made the mushrooms deliciously sweet and buttery. Oh, I’m getting turned on just thinking about them…
Anyway- back to enjoying outside. We’ve been kite flying, swimming, hiking, climbing trees, biking and just playing at the park. It’s been great after a winter spent cooped up and crazy. Gotta love a little vitamin D.
Outside of that I’ve been working hard to finish this embroidery piece . I have fallen in love with embroidery (again- some may remember the infamous Buster pillow) and have been wanting to really expand my horizons of stitchery. Creating this piece would allow me to really start to stretch my wings, and give me an example of what I can do to share with people. So now that it’s finished, I’m happy to announce that I am offering custom embroidered portraits through my Etsy shop. I’m pretty stoked about this. The portrait was exceptionally labor intensive (40+hours) but was so much fun, I really can’t wait to do it again.
Until then, I’m getting ready for Saturday’s craft sale. Your really should come on down. It will be a smaller sale, but there is going to be some really great stuff. I’m hoping to have some new pieces ready just in time. Plus, you’ll be supporting a great cause. You can learn more at their Facebook page.
