Not Much…

What to write, what to write…  I feel as if I am again losing a bit of steam on the blog.  I’m not sure if it’s just because I find myself so busy in other areas of life right now, a lack of feedback from my readers (except you, Abby *hugs*) or just a general lack of good content ideas.
WAIT- It’s not supposed to be a guilt trip, please don’t take it that way, but sometimes even those of us who love to talk type get tired of it from time to time especially when it feels like you are talking to yourself.  You know? I think I expected more feedback on some of those bigger issues this last month which was a bummer when you all felt so damn shy!  It did spur some good conversations with some of you readers in my backyard, but sometimes I just yearn to hear from someone outside of me and my world.  I know you’re out there reading this right now… maybe.

Anyway. Enough of that.

The girls have LESS THAN ONE MONTH before they start school. Wow.  I’m so excited about it really.  I know they are going to love it and I think I expect to really see them begin to blossom into their own individuals with unique interests that they aren’t afraid to pursue on their own (the last part being the key).  I am excited for them to get caught up in new ideas, make new friends, learn patience and obedience on a different level and about a hundred other things.  I loved school, well, until those really hard high school years- I’m sure we all have our stories.  Unfortunately, my hubby is having a harder time with the idea- then again, he’s not home with them every day *wink*.

I’m trying really hard to be “in the moment” and really relish these last few weeks, but it feels like that is putting just more pressure on each day to be perfect.  Let me tell you, they ain’t perfect! It doesn’t help that I’m chomping on the bit to really dive head first into Holey Socks Art and get this puppy running full time. It’s been hard to get new product completed, not to mention up and listed, in a timely manner.  I have all of these ideas in my head, but as I am a one woman production team that is currently a full time domestic engineer (aka homemaker) I have to curb many of these and putz along slowly.  I hope to expand the jewelry line- weed out old designs, create new, expand the necklace line and maybe make some bracelets.  Any bracelet fans out there? They are one of my favorite items to wear, I know. But thats all just the tip of the iceberg.  I hope to seriously up my local game, really start working hard to promote, etc.  I will always welcome help in the form of cheerleaders! Share my Facebook posts, Follow me on Instagram, join the mailing list and forward the newsletters on to your friends.  Alright, enough shameless plugging…

I am SUPER DE-DOOPER EXCITED to have just ordered a Silhouette Portrait electronic cutter.  Basically, it cuts through just about anything in any design you can imagine, including you’re own.  It will allow me to significantly speed up production of my shrink plastic jewelry as I will no longer have to hand cut every single stinking pin, earring, etc and will also with the new sticker lines that are starting.  I haven’t been so excited about a craft item since my Gocco press! Yeah, I’m a craft nerd, but I KNOW I’m not alone on that one.  If your nice, maybe I’ll let you come over and watch me use it 🙂

So, in the mean time I am working on a few new designs and about a half dozen hoops. I finished my custom embroidery portrait but can’t share it until August 8th- it is a gift after all so no spoiling the surprise.  I will definitely be posting lots of pictures though as I think it turned out pretty awesome.  *Toot toot*

The girls and I are off later this week to my hometown to spend a few days with grandma and grandpa, visit great grandparents, do some swimming, go to the zoo, and just have fun! I think we are all looking forward to a nice summer break and to get away for a little while.  We may even pack the tent and try a sleep out in the yard.  Who knows.

Other than that, I am sitting around eating ice cream every night getting just a wee bit pudgier making excuses as to why I can’t find time to work out. Running was going great at the beginning of the year and now has come to a complete stop.  I feel pretty horrible, but can’t seem to kick myself in the ass hard enough to make me actually get off of it and do something.  Despite all my projects and all that I get done, I am at heart a lazy person.  I don’t like to move if I can help it… There I said it, it’s out.  So, if anyone out there (HELLO!!) has any tips for actually motivating yourself to get started and get off the damn couch I would love to hear it.  I’m slowly approaching my pregnancy (TWIN pregnancy) weight and am ready to start sewing myself lots and lots of black muu muss.

Photo taken from artist Rachel Herrick’s blog.  She does some REALLY amazing work that centers around obesity and how our culture views it.  You should definitely check out her stuff here:  OR click on the picture to see the post regarding muu muus and muu muu culture.

Hi Kelly! Hugs right back at ya! Another great post, as usual. I love the great photos you take of your girls! I am really looking forward to hearing how they adjust to school and being in separate classrooms! Do you think you’ll volunteer at their school? It is interesting how very few people commented on your great blog posts about religion, but it’s such a personal thing that maybe people were in fact too shy, or didn’t have “constructive criticism/ideas” in mind for a response? As for your muumuus, make me a few! I recently decided that my muse for getting more in control of my nutrition and activity level was: strength. I want to eat for better immune system strength and exercise for muscle strength…cuz I really don’t have good muscle strength, as in, I lift things with my neck…it’s the strongest muscle in my entire body. ha! and terrible! Thanks so much for your blog!!! I am still in awe of you guys for making the decision to sell your house and move into an apartment–we dream of selling our house and living for US rather than for this darn fixer-upper. I also follow Heather over at WriteDrinkSewRepeat…I really enjoy learning about your lives, hobbies, and how honest you both are!! I think I’m an artist/writer/photographer/blogger…just haven’t let them (me?!) out to play yet!!! 🙂

Thanks Abby! I can’t take any credit for the cute photos- my kids are just adorable little hams that did not get my anti-photogenic genes. I am very excited to see how school goes. I have a feeling they will blossom, though there might be many tears on at drop off first day from all of us! I do hope to volunteer and be involved in their education/school/friends, etc without becoming that over protective helicopter mom. I have a feeling it’s a fine balance.

Strength is definitely a good focus! I think that was what kept me going years ago when I was more heavily vested in yoga. I’ve got a million reasons why I don’t do yoga anymore, but mostly it boils down to two inquisitive, talkative, distracting little girls that take a lot of the “inner peace” out of practicing at home. I would love to start up at a studio again, but it just seems so damn expensive! Yoga did cause me to really appreciate my body and made me proud of what my body could do and was capable of- as well as alleviate stress. Looking better in my skin was just a happy side effect!

I am really glad that someone (other than me) “gets something” out of the blog. I really do appreciate your support in not just this, but all the crazy “outside the norm” things me and my family do. It’s nice to have a cheerleader & I believe that you would also speak up if you thought you needed to. Can I tell you a secret? I am LOVING the apartment! I’m not sure why we didn’t do this sooner- actually I do; I just wasn’t there yet. But it has been an amazing journey and it is cool to see how letting go of the things we are “supposed to have” at our “stage in life” is incredibly freeing! I’m not missing it a bit and I’m able to really focus on those things that really really matter to me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a minimalist without vices- iced coffee and craft crap to name two.

Heather is a pretty cool chick & I’m glad you discovered her. She’s a lot of fun and so down to earth and honest which is really refreshing. I’m so happy life is unfolding for her, but to be honest, I miss all her posts and really just want to know how those damn chickens are doing!!

When you release this inner artist/writer/photographer/blogger you best let me know so I can actively stalk you. Unless you find yourself in my neck of the woods in which case you should just let me know so we can grab some iced coffee!

Okay, I had no idea that you ladies were reading my blog, I thought it was just my mom and my old boss! In my defense I was promoted to circ supervisor and now supervise 3 libraries so I’m a little mentally drained. Although that was 2 months ago and I should get back on the ball….

I love bracelets, btw. 🙂 I have some eczema on my neck so can only wear necklaces intermittently and never wear earrings, so bracelets are awesome.

Gabe starts school in September and I’m terrified. This was not my idea but it is what it is and he’s a curious boy so I’ll do what I have to to be okay with it. He’s only turning 5 on Aug 8, so will be younger than every single person in his class, which I think is a disadvantage.

In any case, I’m still around. And I do a lot of ‘micro-blogging’ on Instagram (my name on IG is HevWam), if you ever want to follow me there I’m super active, and there are videos of the chickens.

Heather, no need for apologies. I was aware of the HUGE change you just undertook as library warlord. Your Project Life adventure and two little boys would be enough to drain me alone.

What sort of bracelets, btw? Would love some ideas…

As for Gabe, I bet he’ll thrive. Worst case scenario, he gets to do it all over again another year. Kindergarteners are dumb so no other kids will even notice if it happens. Either way, he’ll have a blast. I doubt you’ll have to worry about that, though. If he’s anything like you and your hubby he will do great!

I’m going to have to inspect instagram a little closer… I must have missed the chicken videos. I think I’m following too many cool people now- I feel like I’m always missing out on something!

Love you & miss you and I hope that there is a Lovebomb in our near future (which I am ALWAYS willing to help organize).
